Nahid Islam Expelled Sarjis and Issued Show-Cause Notice to Hasnat Over Meeting with Awami League Ministers, Claims Rashed Khan

Mohammad Rashed Khan, the Prime Minister’s political assistant, has claimed that Nahid Islam expelled Sarjis Alam from the party and issued a show-cause notice to Hasnat Abdullah for attending a meeting with ministers of the Awami League government.
Rashed Khan made the claim in a post published on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday, October 14. In the same post, he questioned the roles played by Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah during the July mass uprising.
In his post, Rashed Khan alleged that Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah attended a meeting with ministers of the Awami League government on July 19, a day marked by significant loss of life during the movement. He further claimed that they introduced an eight-point programme at the time to undermine the nine-point demands announced by Abdul Kader.
Rashed Khan also alleged that Hasnat Abdullah contacted Hasib Al Islam by phone that day and took him from his student accommodation to attend the meeting with the Awami League ministers. According to Rashed Khan, several other individuals were also approached to join the meeting but declined, unwilling to betray those who had lost their lives during the uprising.

Commenting on the roles of various individuals during the July uprising, Rashed Khan said their conduct during the movement should be considered separately from corruption allegations that may have emerged against them later. However, he accused Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam of conspiring at the time to undermine the nine-point demands.
In his Facebook post, Rashed Khan also criticised the political positions of Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah. He claimed that the news portal Netra News had previously reported information regarding Sarjis's expulsion and Hasnat's show-cause notice.
However, no responses from Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah or Nahid Islam regarding Rashed Khan's allegations were available at the time of publication. The claims made in his post could not be independently verified for this report.
